The Centers for Nature Education, Inc. at Baltimore Woods (CNE ) has recognized McClurg President Scott McClurg and the McClurg team for their volunteer services and leadership role in renovating the Hand House Headquarters at Baltimore Woods in Marcellus, NY. McClurg donated two weeks of labor and building supplies, and helped secure additional donations from other local companies.

In announcing the organization's recognition of McClurg, Patty Weisse, executive director, CNE at Baltimore Woods, said: "Scott McClurg is, once again, providing the critical leadership that CNE volunteers need to keep the organization's facilities in good shape and working well. We are so appreciative of his leadership."

The John A. Weeks headquarters building at Baltimore Woods is getting a helping hand from the community in order to undergo a much-needed renovation, reported Patty Weisse, Executive Director of Centers for Nature Education, Inc. at Baltimore Woods in Marcellus, N.Y.

The project is an upgrade to the main office and adjoining areas. McClurg, a remodeling and construction services business also located in Marcellus, which previously had done work for the center, is leading the volunteer effort.

"While the Weeks Interpretive Center is relatively new, the staff office space in the older building has been in need of significant renovations for quite some time," says Weisse. "We are very appreciative of the leadership provided by Scott McClurg and his company to move this project forward. The response from others in the community - stepping up and donating materials - has been very gratifying as well."

The Baltimore Woods Nature Preserve has been offering environmental education programs to the community for more than 40 years. The preserve is owned by Save The County, a private not-for-profit organization.

"Baltimore Woods is a tremendous asset to the Central New York community," says Scott McClurg, President of McClurg. "We embarked on this volunteer effort to ensure that the facility is modernized and fully accommodates the increasing needs of the staff and guests. We are proud to be leading this effort."

In addition to providing consulting services for the project at no cost, McClurg is donating the equivalent of one week of labor by two carpenters. Additionally, Erie Materials is providing interior doors, Purcell's is supplying paint and Liverpool Lumber will donate the lumber, framing and other needed supplies.

The contributions from McClurg, Erie Materials, Purcell's and Liverpool Lumber make up approximately half of the amount needed for this project, added Weisse. "We are still in need of volunteers and donations for electrical work, painting and other services to complete the upgrade," she said.

The renovation began this week. Companies or individuals interested in volunteering or donating materials or services should contact Patty Weisse at (315) 673-1350.
