McClurg Remodeling & Construction Services today announced that nine additional employees have been designated U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certified Renovators for successfully completing training on Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair and Painting. They are:

McClurg now has 28 employees who are EPA-certified for lead paint safety. The company is also an EPA Certified Renovator business.
The EPA certifications are required to perform work on any pre-1978 homes, since these homes may contain lead paint. Employees were trained on how to test for the presence of lead in paint, how to establish a safe work environment for workers and home occupants, and how to properly clean and remediate the work site.

McClurg Remodeling and Construction Services announces that Scott McClurg, president, has earned the Certified Graduate Builder (CGB) designation from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). He is one of only 48 builders in New York State to have earned this prestigious national certification.
According to the NAHB, the CGB designation assesses knowledge and experience in five core areas of the home building business:

- Safety

McClurg Remodeling and Construction Services has been designated a BPI Accredited Home Performance Contractor by the Building Performance Institute, Inc. (BPI), the nation's premier building performance credentialing, quality assurance, and national standards setting organization. In addition, Jeff Livingstone, McClurg's training coordinator, has earned BPI's Certified Business Analyst and Envelope Professional designations.
BPI Accredited contractors commit to educating consumers on a comprehensive approach to achieving energy efficiency for the whole house. BPI Accreditation ensures that accredited businesses have appropriately certified employees and quality management systems in place to deliver consistent, high quality building performance services on every residential and commercial project.
Livingstone has been certified by BPI to perform whole house assessments including building envelope and heating and cooling systems. McClurg Remodeling and Construction Services announced that Scott McClurg, president, and two company team members - Jeff Livingstone and Jerry Thayer - have earned the Certified Green Professional (CGP)TM designation from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
According to the NAHB, the CGP designation "recognizes builders, remodelers and other industry professionals who incorporate green building principles into homes -without driving up the cost of construction."
Qualifications for the CGP designation include: 24 hours of classroom training, including 16 hours of green building instruction; at least two years industry experience; signing a code of ethics; and committing to continuing education requirements.

Scott McClurg, president of McClurg Remodeling & Construction Services, recently earned the national Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation, identifying him as one of the building industry's top professionals with skills and knowledge specific to the fastest growing segment of the residential remodeling industry - home modifications for the aging-in-place. McClurg is one of only 41 CAPS professionals in New York State.
Through the CAPS program, McClurg has been trained to help retirees and older adults remain in their homes safely, independently and comfortably, regardless of income or ability level, and continue to live in a familiar environment throughout their maturing years. The CAPS curriculum incorporates a variety of information including communication techniques, common barriers and solutions, codes and standards, product ideas and resources, and common aging-in-place remodeling projects which range from installation of bath and shower grab bars and adjustment of countertop heights to creation of multi-functional first-floor master suites and the installation of private lifts and elevators.
The CAPS program was created by the RemodelorsTM Council of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in collaboration with the NAHB Research Center, NAHB Seniors Housing Council and the AARP to help home remodeling professionals meet the needs of the 77 million Baby Boomers who are now reaching retirement age. CAPS program graduates are required to maintain their designation by attending continuing education programs and/or participating in community service projects.
