When Marcellus native and local dentist, Dr. Taryn Jirousek, decided to open her own dental practice - Taryn Smith Jirousek Family Dentistry - in the Bradley Square building at 19 South Street, she turned to McClurg Remodeling & Construction Services to help design and build her dream office space. McClurg, also based in Marcellus, renovated both the inside and outside of the building to create an inviting and attractive area for Dr. Jirousek's patients and employees, as well as create curb appeal for this well known location in the heart of Marcellus.
"Since I was a child, it's been my dream to have a dental practice in Marcellus," says Dr. Jirousek. "Before the renovation, the building at Bradley Square needed attention and updating. It's been a beautiful transformation and has really improved the community."
McClurg designed the interior layout and selected a combination of colors to achieve a warm and inviting atmosphere. Pendant lights and custom-made light panels were selected to produce softer colors and achieve a soothing environment. Because all of the existing interior structure needed to be removed, there was a great amount of flexibility to design an office consistent with Dr. Jirousek's vision.
Exterior renovations extended beyond the space for Taryn Smith Jirousek Family Dentistry to include:
- Restoring the façade of the entire building
- Constructing a new, defined entrance for Taryn Smith Jirousek Family Dentistry that connects to the main parking lot
- Creating an additional exterior entrance for a neighboring business
- Residing the second floor to cover the old masonry block and add color to the building
- Recreating the sign frame for the tenants to display their new signs
- Adding flower boxes and shutters to bring more color to the lower level of the building
- Installing new sidewalks for the entire Bradley Square area

McClurg Remodeling and Construction Services has received the Chairman's Award of Excellence from the National Commercial Builder Council (NCBC). McClurg received the award in the Division 1 - Medical category for its construction of a new dental office for Dr. Gregory Mohr, D.D.S., at 8179 Cazenovia Road in Manlius, NY.
The Award of Excellence recognizes achievements in the national commercial building industry in design, market appeal, energy efficiency, challenges faced during building, and overall success of the project. McClurg's winning project will be featured in:
