We were thrilled to participate in this year's "Discover Your Talent Day", an initiative organized by the Parent-Teacher Organization at Marcellus Elementary School.
Our day in the classroom was filled with excitement and learning.
Our very own John Griffin sparked the student’s curiosity with a “silly” and thorough demonstration on the tools of the trade and, most importantly, the significance of safety.
With 16 kids in each session and a long waiting list, it was a room filled with excitement and impressively creative hand-made robots!
Together, our McClurg Team guided the students through a thrilling hands-on building experience, where they could unleash their creativity and construct robots, each one crafted to follow a blue-print design carefully sketched by our McClurg designer, Paul Thompson. Kids were taught how to follow blueprint instructions while using tools and careful concentration.
From there they were encouraged to use their creativity to make each robot their own. With push pins, markers, wires, washers, and more, each robot was uniquely impressive and entirely its own!
It was a day well spent for our team members who found the biggest reward to be the many questions and general interest in the work they do and how they do it. For Jamie Sprague and Jim Welsh, being recognized as local celebrities from the commercial was also a joy to experience!
This marked our second consecutive year participating in this meaningful project, and we are already looking forward to many more. Being able to contribute to the educational enrichment of our community's youth under the mentorship and planning of our dedicated team is a privilege we cherish, and we are committed to continuing our support in any way we can.
We are appreciative of the Marcellus community and the village we call home. We are especially grateful to Mr. Montgomery, principal at K.C. Heffernan Elementary School for his advocation of students learning about the trades at an early age to explore the different skills.
