McClurg in the Community

Syracuse Inner Harbor Human Dogsled Race

Helping Hounds holds a special place in the hearts of our McClurg Team! Many of us found our furry family members through the incredible work of the Helping Hounds Dog Rescue. If you have visited our office or followed us on social media, you may have even met some of the Helping Hounds Alumni: Tucker, Teddi, Butter, and Finley, to name a few.

So, when we learned that the Syracuse Inner Harbor was hosting a fundraiser to support Helping Hounds, we were thrilled to participate (even when we heard it involved racing in a “Human Dog Sled Race” on a Sunday in February). That’s how much we love Helping Hounds; we would race in the dead of winter for these sweet pups, and we will have a bast doing it!

We utilized our carpentry skills to assemble a sled that not only represented our company but also promised to outpace the competition. Some might argue that the preparation was just as enjoyable as the race itself.

Did we win? No, but are we determined to win next year? Absolutely! Despite not clinching victory, it was a fantastic day spent with friends and community members. And while we didn't bring home a trophy, knowing that our participation supported Helping Hounds made it a victory for McClurg!

The event could not have happened without the detailed planning by the leadership team at Cor Companies and the generous support from local sponsors such as Limp Lizard, Meier’s Creek Brewing Co. and more.

A heartfelt “thank you” goes out to the driving force behind it all: the dedicated staff and volunteers at Helping Hounds! We are grateful to have been a part of this memorable day!
