When it comes to choosing a sink for your bathroom remodel or upgrade project there are a number of design styles and options for finishes, faucets and shapes to consider. Are you looking for a sink that will complement your bathroom’s decor? Or are you looking for a sink that will make a statement on its own?
In this article we will look at sinks for bathroom vanities. A bathroom vanity is the cabinetry that houses plumbing fixtures and provides storage for your bathroom essentials. The vanity includes a countertop, sink and faucet fixtures.
There are three primary types of bathroom vanity sinks: undermount, drop-in and vessel. An integrated countertop sink is also an option, however, they are not as popular with homeowners now as they were in the past.
Here are nine stylish design ideas for bathroom vanity sinks from remodeling projects we completed for our Central New York customers:
Undermount Sinks
If you’re planning to use a granite or quartz countertop for your bathroom vanity, an undermount sink will expose the largest area of the surface allowing more space for grooming and the beauty of the countertop to be seen.
Undermount sinks are easy to maintain since they do not have a rim on the countertop where soap residue can build up.

Drop-in Sinks
Drop-in sinks are mounted on top of the countertop and remain a popular choice for bathroom vanities. The bowls often come with depressions for holding soap and they can be easily cleaned.
Drop-in sinks may also have a front apron to control splatters and are a great option for a bathroom that children will use.
Burnished bronze fixtures were used with oval bisque drop-in sinks in this master bathroom remodel. The countertop and backsplash are quartz from Cambria in “New Quay”. The double sink vanity with a kneehole opening for seating was designed to accommodate a storage tower for linens that would separate the sinks. Vessel Sinks
Vessel sinks are definitely a focal point in a bathroom. The dramatic shape of the bowl coupled with the style of the mounted faucets, either on the wall or on the countertop, make a bold design statement.
